The Flash #118 is an issue of the series The Flash (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1961.
Synopsis for "The Doomed Scarecrow!"
In Hollywood, the Flash has been asked by Mammoth Pictures to act as a stunt double in a movie based on the adventures of the Flash. However, they hire Steve Palmer to play the main role of the Flash in the film as Barry admits he cannot act.
At the same time, Iris West is in town. At the famed Brown Derby, Iris interviews the Flash and is excited at the idea of introducing Barry to the Flash. She steps away to call Barry Allen to fly out to Hollywood and meet her and the Flash for dinner. Not wanting Iris to become suspicious, Barry speeds home in order to answer the phone. Barry agrees to meet her for dinner that evening. Upon hanging up, he speeds back to Hollywood. When Iris returns to her seat she informs Flash that Barry is meeting them for dinner.
Back on the set, the Flash reviews footage where he doubled for the star of the film, Steve Palmer, during a scene involving shots being fired at a scarecrow. Deducing there is somebody trying to kill Palmer, the Flash asks that the next scene he secretly fill-in for Palmer. The Flash eyes Hank Walters, the prop designer, but is surprised when the next scene goes off without a hitch. The director sets them up in a mine for the next scene when suddenly a bomb goes off causing a cave-in with the Flash and several extras trapped in the mine. The Flash kicks into overdrive and digs them out of the mine unscathed.
The Flash retreats to his trailer to think. He is clubbed and bound by Palmer, who was behind everything. Palmer had an elaborate ruse to eliminate the Flash and take his place and live off the lucrative advertising he could make as a spokesperson. When the crooks are distracted by Iris West knocking on the trailer door, the Flash vibrates loose and knocks out all the crooks and turn them over to the police.
At the Brown Derby, the Flash walks Iris in and says he needs to take off. He secretly changes back to Barry Allen in order to be "on time" for their date.

Synopsis for "The Midnight Peril!"
Wally West and his buddy Pete Willard are going through an initiation to join the Eta Pi fraternity at Blue Valley High School. The test involves them spending the entire night in a haunted house. When they are scared off by apparent ghosts, Wally returns as Kid Flash and learns that the ghosts were really two crooks hiding out in the abandoned house. Kid Flash then defeats them and turns them over to the Blue Valley Police Department.
Looking for Pete, Kid Flash finds him with his leg caught in a trap with rocks from a landslide about to tumble on him. Kid Flash saves Pete by deflecting the rocks from hitting him. He vibrates a rock at super speeds to chisel Pete's leg free to return him to the house. He changes back into Wally West as the two return to the haunted house and remain there for the rest of the night. The next day they are initiated into the ranks of the Eta Pi fraternity.

- The cover for this issue was originally mis-labeled saying "A new Elongated Man Story!", when in reality it was a new Kid Flash story. The new Elongated Man story appeared in the following issue. This error was never fixed in the collected editions or the omnibus.
- This issue is reprinted in The Flash Archives Vol. 3, The Flash Omnibus Vol. 1, and The Flash Chronicles Vol. 3.
- This issue reveals Kid Flash's forename name was initially Walter. This would be retconed as Wallace later on.
